4 Years and Counting..............
Before I get on with posting in answer to lytha's query, I thought I should acknowledge an anniversary of sorts. On this day in 2007 I did my first blog post, Trash Talking Arabian Horses That post has been followed by another 1323 posts leading up to this day which averages out to 331 posts per year. That's not that far off from being a post a day.
I've heard some bloggers say that daily posting waters down the quality of posts. While I think that can be true for some, I think it really depends on the individual writer and her/his writing style. I think watered down content can occur despite how many days one posts. It is how the material is handled that will dictate whether the message is worth reading.
I would think by the way my readership has grown over these four years, that others must agree with me. While I am no Pioneer Woman, nor was it ever my intention to be, I have built a substantial base of regular readers. My readership has grown without posting outrageous material and opinions designed to inflame readers and incite mob like mentality trashing the reputations of others.
The stories I tell are my stories breeding, training and showing Arabian horses. I have focused on my struggles and triumphs and everything in between. There have been posts about relationships I have formed, the decisions I have made, the lessons I have learned and the price my horses have sometimes paid when I screwed up, not to mention stories about the horses themselves.
This blog is about my journey in the horse industry and all those things that have happened along the way that have contributed to where I am today. Who knows if I will crank out another 330 posts in the coming year or if I will settle into some slower rate. The only thing for certain is that I plan to keep posting as long as this dream of mine still has life and this aging body of mine allows me to chase that dream.
Some of my blogging friends have tired of this activity and moved onto other things over these four years. I was looking at blogs I have in my RSS feed reader today and I couldn't believe how many have moved on from blogging. At the same time I am heartened by the number of new horsey blogs that are out there. There was a day I could search all weekend to find a handful of horse related blogs. Today I seem to locate new horses blogs regularly. Our world is fast growing and changing. I suspect my journey will as well.
My journey is far from over. There are stories still untold and more stories in the making. I expect there will be more triumphs and probably some falls flat on my face can be expected as I continue on. I hope to post about all of them as I continue to immerse myself in this mania of mine, Arabian horses. I hope all of you will follow along with me for the ride.

Congratulations on your anniversary and for posting so many interesting blogs. As a almost constant reader I thank you for being one of the good people in the horse world. It's always nice to read your stories.
ReplyDeleteFor myself I could never write as many posts as you do. I sometimes can't think of anything interesting to write about or come up with posts others would like to read.
I love reading your stories. Congratulations on four successful blogging years!
ReplyDeleteCongrats! I enjoy reading your posts. You are a great story teller & it keeps me coming back.
ReplyDeleteWell Happy Anniversary! I for one am glad you have kept it up,and that I found your blog.Your stories of your horses are so beautifully written and have had me laughing and crying with you on so many occassions. Maybe one day I too will meet the infamous Legs, and co.
ReplyDeleteI always enjoy reading your blog since I found it a few years ago. Thanks and please keep up the great posts.
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary! That is sure a lot of posts! I will continue to look forward to your many posts! I love hearing about your horses!
ReplyDeleteHappy Bloggerversary and you can bet I'll be reading as long as you keep posting.
ReplyDeleteTime it do fly doesn't it? I cannot believe I am coming up on 3 years myself. Sure have met some amazing people doing this though.
I only started my blog 6 months ago and found your blog shortly after. Initially attracted by your horses (I have an Anglo Arab myself) I love all your stories and look forward to more!

It takes an incredible dedication to do what you have done, and I thank you for it.
ReplyDeleteWow, that's a lot of posts--Congratulations!! You have an active life with horses and plenty to say, I don't think you'll have to worry about ever having a lack of things to write about!!
ReplyDeleteKeep up the good work.

Happy anniversary.....I wonder how many words you've posted in total.........LOTS!
ReplyDeleteWell crap, I missed my anniversary. Apparently it was 1/6/08. I know I was quietly reading your blog before I started my own. Anyway, in 3 years I've coughed up 561 posts, so I really understand what an epic accomplishment your 1323 posts are! CONGRATS!
ReplyDeleteI don't think I'd want to be as popular as PW anyway. I feel like all my regulars are friends, and I can keep up with the parts of their lives they share on their blogs. If I had thousands of readers, they'd be strangers to me.
Here's to (at least) four more fun years of blogging!
Please keep on writing. I only discovered your blog this past year but enjoy your stories so much. Happy anniversary.
ReplyDeleteWell, I for one think your blog is fabulous, and I LOVE your stories, and lessons learned! Congrats on your anniversary, I get amazed how you have so much to tell... you have a gift, and sharing your knowledge has only helped me learn. And of course, THANKS for the help with Jackson's pedigree. Found out he is a relative of Princeaquillo (sired Secretariat) on his mama's side! Neato!
ReplyDeleteHappy NEW Year!
Mindy
You and I were doing the same thing on Friday -- perusing and, in my case, organizing or cleaning up my RSS feed. I had the same thought, feeling astonished over how many horse bloggers dropped out, some of whom were my favorites. At the same time, there are many more horse bloggers now than there were 2, 3, and 4 years ago. Congrats for sticking to it.

ReplyDeleteCongratulations on four years! Your blog is one of the first horse blogs that I read, right after Pioneer Woman, actually. You were and continue to be one of a handful that I read regularly and it's one of my favorites. I've truly enjoyed reading about your beautiful Arabian horses and have learned a thing or two, as well, from you. Keep up the good work :)
