In Loving Memory, Malachite, Born Jan 1, 1980 - Died Feb 12, 2012

This horse deserves a tribute, he was that special in our lives, but I cannot find the words at this time. Each time I sit here, the tears well up and I cannot see the screen. I will wait to post when I can do his memory justice.

In the meantime here's the picture Lindsay asked me to post. She brought it to me right after we returned from saying our goodbyes. I think it tells how much he meant to her and how much she meant to him, that beautiful face resting over her shoulder looking at the camera.

I thought I had done a post about how Lindsay and "Mark" built that connection but I have been unable to locate it in my archives. I did write their story and it was published in the Arabian Horse Association's magazine at that time.

I can't imagine I haven't posted that story here. If that is indeed the case, it will need to be included in his tribute. This was a remarkable horse and he will always hold a place in our hearts.

  1. So sorry that this horse you loved has passed, but he had a long life and was obviously loved; hugs to you, and hope all is otherwise well, and that Dave is doing better.

  2. Others can no longer see him, but his hooves will bend the grasses towards you and you will know he is there, in your heart for always.

  5. I am so sorry for your loss. I lost a mare in the fall and have not been able to write a fitting tribute yet. It will come and so will yours. For now, take comfort in your memories. RIP, Malachite. You were loved.

  13. I am so sorry for your loss, what an extraordinarily beautiful face, on both!

Exhausted from other trials, I had to get out the old calculator to check my math.
32 years, RR!! That's incredible. How lucky he was to find you, what a sweet wonderful life he's lived, thanks to you. Look at that face. He really says it all.

    Thank you for being there.
I so wish I could help you in your struggles, and I was saddened to see that people are doing cruel things on FB to you. Some people's kids have no class, at all.

Deepest sympathies, to you and yours.
    love
    Barb
