Life and Record Breaking ?? Snows.......

Sometimes life just has to trump the series. I'll get back to posting about Storm and the clinic but for now these pics of the snows covering my farm take precedence for me. Caring for thirty horses in this stuff takes real commitment. Fortunately for me, Dave and Lindsay have that because I've been working at Fred Meyer instead of here on the farm.
I am such a chicken about driving in the snow, that Dave has also taken on the task of ferrying me back and forth to work. He's a great driver in the snow even with his white knuckling back seat driving wife as a passenger. He got me home last night safely and will be have gotten me to work this afternoon before this post even hits the airways.

Dave also contributed these pics taken by his blackberry. Both are veiws Legs has from his stall. The first is looking straight out towards the road. The second is looking back towards the house to see what his humans are up to, although this is only a partial view from that direction. Legs also has sight of the two other barns as he looks down the lane. BTW that's the same lane I was riding Storm in just a few days ago. You can get we aren't riding in this stuff ........but then maybe if I could get the time off work, I might just have time to introduce the red haired wonder to the fine art of riding in the snow. I can just imagine what kind of ride that would be. LOL

  1. That's awful. I don't mind driving in the snow, don't like the ice though. I know I'm a good driver it's all the other nuts on the road I'm afraid of.

Hope this stuff melts quickly and you have a nice warm Happy Thanksgiving.

  4. haha, riding Storm in the snow would sure be an experience, but at least if you fell off it would be soft! And sometimes it makes them pay attention more casue its hard work when the snows that deep, might not be such a bad idea after all.

  5. I miss the first snow, but that's pretty much it. I do NOT miss slush, sleet, ice or shoveling. Kudos to hubby for being your *cough* White Knight :o)

  8. That snow is unbelievable (but quite pretty). The good thing about riding in that fluffy snow is the impact while falling isn't nearly as painful. Perhaps that would be a good location to work on your naughty horses?

  9. I know what you mean about not wanting to drive through that. I was really disappointed that my son's school didn't delay or cancel classes this morning. A lot of people were taken by surprise with the ice and don't have their snow tires and/or chains yet. Throw a few hundred teenagers into the mix and I'm white knuckling it in my recliner just worrying about my son driving to school.

  10. I'll take snow over the ice we're having any day. I've been housebound for three days now. Cabin fever in November, what a concept.
Sure hope we can make it to friend's for Thanksgiving tomorrow, otherwise it's no turkey for us.
Happy Thanksgiving to all of you.

  11. You got my attention when I saw "horses" in your profile! I am a novice rider (started taking lessons at age 50!), and loving all of my big, beautiful new friends.

I see the committment that my instructor has in taking care of her horses, too. The experience has been and continues to be good for me.

    Stay safe and warm!

And thank you for visiting my blog. Please visit again. :)
