Sunday Stills Challenge - Animals of Husbandry

This week's Sunday Stills Challenge was "Animals of Husbandry." First off I read this wrong and instead thought it was Animal Husbandry. That left me thinking how could I do something fun about the process of taking care of my horses. However, scooping poop just is not pretty no matter how hard you try. Mt Manure is never going to be on a list of tourist attractions and grooming and feeding horses is dirty work and really not fun to photograph.

Then on closer inspection I realized my mistake sometime this morning. Getting the horses to co-operate by staying within the field of vision of my camera was definitely not on their minds. While there really is a small herd of horses in that field, I never did manage to capture all of them in one shot. That's what I get for only taking a quick glance at the task in the first place. If I'd have gotten it right the first time around I'd have had days to get this post right......if there really is a right. LOL

  1. They never cooperate for the camera when we want them to! Enjoyed catching up on previous posts - I've been meaning to do the 50 things too but no time yet. And that carriage accident. I'd seen it before but it still scares the heck out of me. It so difficult to unhitch quickly without a competent header. Being on the ground with a whipless (driverless) carriage is one of the most dangerous positions to be in. Scary.

  2. I agree, scooping poop will never be glamorous! ha! I don't really mind it though, well not too bad. I usually only have four at home at one time so that's a piece of cake.

Enjoyed your list. I don't wear my helmet all the time either. I know I should but it's just so darned hot and uncomfortable. Growing up we didn't even own a helmet.

Another great picture, keep 'em coming!

  7. They look like they were having a great time! Mine never cooperate for pics either. Most are just lucky shots.

  8. It's funny how horses don't like to cooperate for the camera sometimes... They're just too smart and like to get you a little frazzled as a joke I think. LOL :)

PS: I think I may be one of the few people in the world who enjoys cleaning stalls. It's satisfying to me, to make them comfortable. ;)
