Rolling Along...........Just Not Posting

Believe it or not, the invitations to our annual open house have just been mailed. It sure wasn't without more drama. It was like pulling teeth trying to get those things in the mail with one complication after another.

Even when my friend, Richard, suggested we take the file on a flash drive to someone else for printing things just couldn't go smoothly. They couldn't read the file on the flash drive so Lindsay and Dave came back home and retrieved her computer to get the file straight from there (Good thing the kid now has a nice new laptop that is portable!. )

But even then it turned out to be complicated. Dave said it was a good thing the kid at FedEx Kinko's was so knowledgeable because he had to pull out his bag of tricks to figure out a way to retrieve the file so he system could read the thing. I guess he moved it to maybe Notepad and then to Word or who knows what because Dave didn't have a clue..........but the kid finally did get it in a file that was usable to him. All for $4.89 worth of label printing. (We supplied the labels because they didn't have them in stock.) That's pretty darn good service if you ask me.

There was no time for blogging last night. We spent most of last night putting on labels and stamps so the post cards could finally get to the post office this morning. I swear those post cards and stamps sucked every last ounce of moisture I had out of my poor hands. After a while those cards were slipping around so bad I could hardly keep them under control. Sure glad that that's done.

Now I'm on to the email invitations. I did try Evite.com but it wouldn't work for me. I tried several times to construct an email and I just couldn't get it figured out. Don't know if it was me or what but I finally gave up.

Then I found an email promotion software that looked like it might be promising. I tried to take the tour of the product BUT (how come there always seems to be a BUT?) my sound isn't working since my computer was attacked and it was all a "spoken" tour with visual supporting graphics so just not helpful. I may just download the 60 day trial and go for it later today.

I'm still working on picking rocks from our presentation area. I just can't believe how those suckers breed! And I still have pastures to pick from that period the horses lived outdoors while Lindsay was recuperating. I tried to keep up with it at the time but sometimes it was just too hot........and I was too tired. I hope to get started on that this weekend. Those pastures are used for parking and they are just YUCK!! right now.

Also this weekend I will begin show clipping this herd. After that I will begin bathing. The farrier has already come and gone. (Would you believe we did 14 trims on young horses in under 2 1/2 hours....and MizScarlet was really good for her! Notice I said for her.....) We're taking inventory of supplies today for our trip to Costco and, of course, we won't be getting the food until the end of the week.

Dave was supposed to order the port-a-potty yesterday but I'm pretty sure he forgot. As long as we order by Tuesday or Wednesday we're good there. He's still working on mowing and edging the yard and it's amazing what a difference that makes.

One final mowing next Saturday and the yard should look good except for my flower pots. The weather this year was just not kind to my annuals or my perennials for that matter. My pots are really disappointing. But it is what it is...........too late to do anything about that!

It's rained too much here for me to be able to use my round pen this week so I've about given up on conditioning. If it dries out at all, I'll try to resume again however, I think it's futile at this point.

I don't know if I'll be able to continue riding horses this next week there is so much still to do here. At least the ones I've been riding are in great shape.........the others, not so much, which is not how I like them to be for the open house.

I'm really excited to hear that some of my blogging friends are planning on attending. It will be fun to meet you in "real life." I hope that you will be able to stay until after the horses are shown and I've talked to those with horse questions. It seems like each year when I finally have a chance to "really" visit with my friends most everyone is gone.

  5. It will all work out in the end MiKael. We'll all have fun, try not to stress too much. I'm sure everyone will understand that the horses aren't in perfect show condition, given what has happened in your life over the last few months. And if they aren't understanding well then they can just take a hike. Your horses look good no matter what anyway, don't worry about it.

I'll be there with bells on and you'll probably have to kick me out at the end of the day lol. I can't wait to sit and chat.

Take some breaks in the mean time, stress is not good. :)

  6. I'm tired just from reading all the things you have to work out! Things will fall into place, they always do. Just don't forget to sit back and enjoy it when it's all over, RELAX! =)
Surely with everything that has been happening over the past few months though people will be understanding.

  8. Good job getting started. Wish I could be there to pick rocks. Maybe another year some of us southern bloggers can get together and drive up. I'm still hoping for Scottsdale next year, though.
