Sunday Stills Challenge - - Landscape

Mother Nature contributed to this week's Sunday Stills Challenge by contributing lots of white stuff overnight. Snow was NOT in our forecast but the grand lady bestowed about 6 inches of the fluffy white stuff despite the protestations of the local weathermen.

All I can say is it's prettier than the mud it's currently covering but still just as big a pain in the neck. I didn't even get my last load of horses worked yesterday due to this beginnings of this storm. I was hoping to get them caught up today but the snow will have to melt much faster than it's current rate. In the meantime Delilah is loving the snow. She's pretty sure that this stuff was intended just for her pleasure.

These pictures are the view from different angles from my house. The poor little oak trees in the first pic don't know what to think about that much weight on their poor tender boughs.

With yesterday's landscape hidden the muddy banks of the creek have been disguised covered in this cold blanket of white. The trees and surrounding shrubs reach majestically towards the sky decked out in Mother Nature's finery. From the dismal ravages of a hard winter all have been transformed, like Cinderella now ready for her ball.

But just like in Cinderella's story the clock is ticking with temperatures predicted in the 50s. As the hands reach closer to noon the heat rises and the snow drips from the limbs. The process is slow and painful as the beauty gradually disappears into more wet pools and eventually even more mud. Just another of Mother Nature's tricks this wierd and wild spring.

  2. I certainly love the beauty of this snow we just got, but dread the awful mess that I know it's gonna leave behind! Just when I thought we might get a couple days to dry out a little! Beautiful pictures!

  12. Cool (pardon the pun) photos MiKael. I also like it when I look out the window and everything is white rather than brown. Did I ever mention I also hate the mud. We have had wonderful weather in the 60s and 70s and this morning it plummeted again and it has been windy, raining, sleeting and snowing all day. I am hoping that this will be the last winter blast, we always have a few before winter leaves us.

Of course then I will be complaining abut the flies and heat because we get very little of that in between comfortable weather.

  16. Beautiful pics! Even though it is snow. :) We got about 4 inches and it sure was pretty, until it melted this afternoon and made even MORE mud! Ugh!

  17. Lovely snow photos! I really hope we are done with that for this year - as you say, it is beautiful... and then it's hideous when the mud comes back.

  18. Very pretty even though it's snow! We've got lots of sticky mud too so I can totally sympathize.

  19. Even though your pictures of the snow are beautiful, I think we've all had enough of winter and snow. It seems so odd that it is still snowing, we've been lucky so far and have had some nice days in the 60's and our snow is finally melted. We're into rain now and we've go plenty of mud. Hope you melt soon and dry out. After this winter I think we all deserve a beautiful spring with sunny days a warm temps.

  21. Don't-cha just about scream when it snows and you were looking forward to sunshine and 65 degrees? I do. You need to take really bad photos so the snow bunny will think you are either tired of him or don't like him and he will skip your place till this fall. Late.

And while we didn't get snow today we got some flakes yesterday along with a wet rain. My wife is mowing the leaves and stuff in our yard leftover from winter. It should look better. LOL

  22. Looks like we all go it up and down the Rocky range and beyond! Looks pretty, but sure will cause a lot more mud! I'll send you some of our sunshine to help y'all dry out!
