A Baby Boomer Dreams of Arabian Horses - Rhythm's Story Part 3

Part One of the Baby Boomer Series

Rhythm's Story starts here

After our less than star quality showing at the regional championships, it was pretty clear that there wasn't going to be any enthusiastic buyer coming out of the woodwork dying to have my Arabian horse. That meant the odds of selling the colt before he reached riding were slim to none.

It was time to make a plan for getting him to that point in the most favorable light so we could still get a great price for this horse. For me, just the thought of keeping Rhythm around that long was intimidating. I really wasn't looking forward to the thought of starting this horse under saddle. Knowing that his hormones at the yearling stage where somewhere clear off the charts, I couldn't even imagine what the horse would be like at three or four.

Thankfully for me and probably Rhythm too, Harvey Jacobs came along just in time for Rhythm's two year old year. The story of how Harvey helped me with Rhythm starts with this post, Harvey Jacobs and Arabian Horses With the help of Harvey I learned a new way to deal with my colts. Never again would I have to go the extent to get control of a colt as I had when Rhythm was a baby. I now felt like I was truly prepared for dealing with baby horses that would grow up to be stallions.

To be continued..........

  3. Boy do I need something like that, I was just saying not 10 minutes ago to Larry that we either have to have these colts gelded or get them new homes, dealing with three two year old studs, one yearling stud and a five year old stud on our small farm is just getting to the point that it is dangerous not only for me but for them. They are all so strong willed and hormonal.
